Position: Contract Analyst Programmer/ Business Analyst, Project Leader
Skills used RPG/400, SQL, Journaling, FrontPage, Access 97, Word 97 & Excel 97
I was involved in eight different phases of work with frequent contact with the various user departments within the divisions of the company.
1. E-Commerce
User training and testing of this E-Commerce solution developed for a PC with Explorer 5 and connections to the AS/400. Amending existing RPG /400 programs in order to meet the requirements of the application.
2. Stock ordering system. This involved discussion with users in two divisions to develop/ specify and implement a system that would from the customer order generate the necessary build instructions for a product to be made on demand instead of by forecast. This would reduce stock levels and improve turnover of the stock. All work was written in RPG/400 with assistance of Robert Bosch India for some of the program development.
3. Euro Conversion. This involved analysing the changes to PRMS writing some of them in RPG/400 and subsequent testing with all documentation in an Access 97 database which was updated by all members of the team
4. Y2K conversion. This work involved me in a team of eight people for the Y2K conversion of their PRMS (Distribution module) package version 8.2 for the eleven divisions plus in-house written programs. All testing of the source code pre and post conversion was documented in Access database that I designed and wrote. The RPG/400 code was sent to a software house for conversion to Y2K code and it was necessary to interrogate the RPG in order to verify the conversion via a series of RPG/400 programs and SQL searches and resulted in the final code being amended.
5. System Testing. This involved testing of their warehouse system Boss release 5 and a number of program changes written in RPG/400.An Access database to control all program development within the department including Robert Bosch India where I submitted many program specifications and subsequently tested the new system.
6. Specifying program changes. This was done for user changes to the live PRMS and the programming completed by Robert Bosch India. This involved project control & programming standards in order to deliver the correct amendments.
7. Help desk
Taking it in turns to run the department user I.T help desk. This involved fixing the problem and liasing with the user.
8. Various System changes
Specifying and implementing the various on going system changes as specified by the users.

When the company changed to Microsoft Office, I was asked to write from an initial concept, four databases in Access 97 for their first Networked PC Sales Analysis. One of the databases I used in conjunction with MAPINFO Mapping program.
